mate with King and pawn Can't remember but is it possible to mate with that combo against a lone King with the pawn on a or h line. I always end in a draw or stalemate. Thanks .Check out my last 2 finished games and see what I mean

Mate with K + P Hi olean_don ! Both games were 'book' draws, since the defending King could reach the queening square. There is no possibility of a mate. Even if you could have placed yr king in front of your pawn, you can't pry the enemy king away from the corner. This is a peculiarity of rook-pawns. The problem with the bishop in your other game, is that it's on the wrong coloured squares! It can't control the queening square, so again you can't dig the King out of the corner. A well-known book draw of K+RP+wrong B vs lone K. Always worth knowing if you are fighting to save a draw... Concerning other K+Pvs K endings, it is usually best to get the attacking K in front of his P...
