Defining a chess opening by name? Some openings are easy to define as we know. But on some games I don't know how to name the game?

For example 1.e4 c5 2.Bc4 Nc6

Would this game be the "Bishops opening" or a "Sicillian defence"? When you give your reasons could you please tell me how you come to the conclusion?

Thank you?

I would call it a sicilian defence. Of course it could always transpose into one of the many variations of the sicilian, but becuase it is a position which arose from a sicilian defence, it would be called a sicilian

Sicilian Defense The Bishop's Opening is characterized by 1. e4 e5 2. Bc4. Any opening that opens 1. e4 c5 is a Sicilian Defense unless it transposes.
